Randy Larson

Memorial services for Randy Wallace Larson will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at First Assembly Of God Church with Pastor Dan Holden and Pastor Bob Chord of the Cornerstone Church in Moorcroft officiating. Randy Larson, age 59, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at his home of cancer.Randy Larson was born on July 14, 1951 in Escanaba, Michigan the son of Wallace and Sue (Umbarger) Larson. He was raised and educated in Gwinn, Michigan graduating from Gwinn High School in 1969. Randy attended Northern Michigan University earning his bachelor's degree. He married Judith Ann Pelkie on October 12, 1974. He furthered his education at the University Of Wyoming studying education administration. Randy taught at Bothwell School in Marquette, Michigan. Moving west in 1983, he taught at the Burns High School in Laramie County for 16 years. The couple and their family moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1999, where Randy was the interim director of the Boys and Girls Club. Starting in 2001, he taught English at Westwood High School until his passing. Randy was a published writer of educational studies material since 1984. Randy's family was his priority, and he enjoyed camping with them immensely. Randy's gift of writing was always prevalent in his life, and all who knew him knew that his faith in God was first and foremost in his life.Randy is survived by his wife, Judith Larson of Gillette, Wyoming; son, Gabriel Larson of Nashville, Tennessee; mother, Sue Larson of Gwinn, Michigan; sisters: Debra Kershasky of Marquette, Michigan, Gwen Boorsma of Little Lake, Michigan and Gayle Freeborn of Gwinn, Michigan.He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Larson and son, Ryan G. Larson.Memorials are suggested to benefit Westwood High School Scholarship Fund in Randy's name.
