Doris Alba Geer

Doris Geer, age 81, of Gillette, passed away at her home on Thursday, November 25, 2010 from natural causes. At her request there are no services planned at this time. Doris was born November 24, 1929 in rural Campbell County the daughter of Virgil and Ivy (Starret) Snyder. Doris attended rural elementary schools in Campbell County and later attended Campbell County High School. Upon her graduation she enrolled in beauty school. After earning her cosmetology certificate she married Newt Geer in Gillette. The couple had two children and made their home in Lander, they later divorced. Doris was a librarian many years at the Freemont County Public Library. Over this time she earned an associate degree from Central Wyoming College in Riverton. In 1995 Doris retired and returned to Gillette where she has resided since.An award winning artist, Doris created several beautiful oil and pastel paintings. She loved the outdoors and would spend as much time as she could at her family homestead near Weston, Wyoming.
