Funeral service for Robert (Bob) E. Luthe will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, WY. with Pastor Burry Bessee of the First United Methodist Church as officiant. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home.Robert Luthe, age 78, passed away November 21, 2010 at the Billings Clinic, Billings, MT.Robert Eugene Luthe was born October 9, 1932 in Calhoun, Illinois the son of Forrest and Bessie (Kutz) Luthe. He joined the United States Navy in 1952 and served four years on the USS Oriskany during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he lived in Farmington, NM before moving to Gillette in the early sixty's. Bob married Betty Collins, July 26, 1974.Bob Luthe joined Exeter Drilling as a driller in 1963 and was promoted to Rig Superintendent in 1968. He retired from Exeter in 1992 after twenty-nine years of faithful service to the company. Along with being a very proud grandfather, Bob enjoyed camping and fishing with his brothers and the time spent fishing at Keyhole after his retirement. He enjoyed horse racing and raising his own race horses for over twenty years. Recently Bob had been taking weekly trips to Deadwood, S.D. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42.Bob is survived by his wife Betty of Gillette, WY; son, Johnny (Noreen) Collins of Gillette, WY; daughter, Sharon Brummit of Indianapolis, IN; sisters, Patty (Dave) Dunahee of Olney, IL; Shirley Miller of Olney, IL; granddaughters, Jessica and Kylee Collins and great-grandaughter, Adison Collins as well as many nephews, nieces in Illinois and his many friends in Gillette and Olney, IL.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Fred and Morris Luthe and sister, Mary Jane Runyan.Condolences may be sent in Bob's name to Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716.
