Mass of Christian burial for Jerry Bryan will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Tim Martinson as celebrant. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Monday, November 1, 2010 with a vigil service and rosary at 7 p.m. Long time resident, Jerry R. Bryan, age 62, passed away October 28, 2010 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of a heart attack. Jerry R. Bryan was born December 8, 1947 in Pasadena, California to Roland and Joann (Downey) Bryan. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Jerry married Jean Shawver, December 11, 1971 and the couple moved to Gillette in 1974. Jerry worked at Belle Ayr Coal Mine from 1978 until his retirement last year. He really enjoyed working with the heavy equipment at the mine. When his sons were younger, Jerry spent several years coaching them in wrestling, soccer, and football. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They spent time together in the Big Horns, camping, boating, four wheeling and fly fishing. Jerry also liked to tie his own fishing flies and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. He loved and took great pride in decorating his yard for the Christmas holidays. Jerry is survived by his wife Jean of Gillette, WY; two sons, Jerry (Kathy) Bryan and Jason(Naco)Bryan both of Gillette, WY; brother, Wes(Bev)Bryan of Havasu City, AZ; sister-in-law, Vicki Bryan of Gainsville, TX; five grandchildren as well as several nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother; one son, Gus Bryan; brother, Wayne Bryan; and father-in-law, Ray Shawver. A memorial has been established to benefit the American Heart Association.
