Funeral service for Thomas W. Harris, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home with Reverend Judith England of Gillette Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Black Hills National Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home. Thomas W. Harris, 56, of Gillette died Wednesday, July 28th 2010 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, after a long battle with cancer. Tom was born May 8, 1954 to Arthur and Dorothy (Miller) Harris in Circleville Ohio. He was raised in Circleville and enlisted in the US Army in 1973. He married Tina Slover in 1975 and to this union, two children, Jeremy and Jessica were born. Tom worked 25 years for Sears in Columbus Ohio, before moving to Gillette in 2006 to be closer to his children and grandchildren. While in Gillette, he was employed at Tire Rama and Majestic Lube. He loved working mechanically on all vehicles. His children and grandchildren were his life and he spent endless hours with them. Doing whatever they wanted to do. One of his favorite things to do was to play NASCAR video games with his grandson. Tom was an avid NASCAR fan! In fact, racing in general caught his attention. He was a member of AA with 29 years of sobriety! He is survived by his brothers Jeff and Dave Harris, both of Ohio; son, Jeremy (Shyla) and family, Nikki, RJ, Mick Bayona, Alfred Bayona, Shana Bayona, Sharmaine Bayona; daughter, Jessica (Steve) Rydquist and family, Janetha Rychecky, Jacob Rychecky, Josie Rychecky, Shantelle Rydquist and Great grandson Eli Killsknight-Rydquist; daughter-in-law, Jill Harris. He is preceded in death by his mother and father. A memorial has been established in Toms name to benefit Close to Home Hospice Hospitality house.
