Memorial service for Verna Decker will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, WY with Reverend Judith England of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Verna, age 58, lifelong Gillette resident passed away July 10, 2010 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming following a long illness. Verna Jean Decker was born July 13, 1951, to Ivan and Lillian (Clark) Hatfield in Gillette, Wyoming. She attended schools and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1971. Verna was employed at Gillette City Hall in the early 1970s. She later was employed at McDonalds from 2001 thru 2006. She was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion. Verna was an avid fan of country music especially Little Jimmy Dickens. She also was a member of the fan clubs of both George Strait and Alan Jackson and enjoyed collecting CDs of various country western music artists as well as their T-shirts. She enjoyed growing geraniums and stamp collecting. Verna is survived by her two sons, George Decker and Jerry (Sarah)Decker of Gillette, Wyoming; brothers, Bruce(Sandra)Hatfield of Gillette,WY; and Rodney Blair(Cody)Hatfield of Gillette, WY; and one granddaughter, Skyan Decker , as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by both her parents. A memorial has been established in her name.
