Funeral services for Ina M. Piper will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Moorcroft, WY with Pastor Duane Simonson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Upton, WY. Ina M. Piper, age 79 passed away on Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming, after a yearlong battle with cancer. Ina May Piper was born on January 7, 1931 to William and Bessie (Reed) Meyer at Carter, South Dakota. She grew up in Witten, SD and graduated high school. She met Don Piper while she was in high school and the couple dated for several years. They were married on July 21, 1948 at Witten, South Dakota. The couple had seven children and had been married almost sixty-two years. The family lived in Wood, Winner, Witten and Hot Springs, South Dakota before moving to Wyoming in 1968. Ina received her degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie and taught school for many years. She was also musically inclined, had a piano and taught piano lessons for many years. Ina was a very Christian lady all her life and was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Moorcroft. She is survived by her husband, Don Piper of Osage, WY; her children, Patricia (Charles) Murry of Dallas, TX; Gary Piper of Osage, WY; Donna (William) Tavegia of Upton, WY; Bonnie (David) Bau of Osage, WY; Jerry (Debbi) Piper of Osage, WY; Roger (Katie) Piper of Chicago, IL; Lisa (Mike) Wood of Sheridan, WY; sisters, Mary Hamann of Gregory, SD; Gladys Mielke of Loveland, CO; eighteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Ina was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers. A memorial has been established in Inas name and can be sent to PO Box 181 Osage, WY 82723.
