Valarie Vandom

January 17, 1958 — May 25, 2010

Surrounded by her family, Valerie Jean Vandom met her Lord and savior Tuesday, May 25, 2010, after a long battle of cirrhosis of the liver. Valerie was born to Haskell and Norma Reed on January. 17, 1958, in Worland, Wyo. She came to Gillette in 1968, where she finished her education and two years of college. Valerie married Kirby Bachtold on September. 6, 1974. On their first anniversary, they were blessed with twin sons, Kirby and Brandon Bachtold. They later divorced. She met her soul mate, JR Vandom in 1976, and from this union they had three beautiful daughters. Valerie never met a stranger, she loved to visit with babies to the elderly. She was gifted with compassion for all. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren. They and Lord Jesus was her life. She was a member of the Gillette Christian Center. She enjoyed cooking, always making extras; going to all events of her grandchildren; and riding the motorcycles with her beloved husband, going to Deadwood. Valerie is survived by her husband, JR, of 34 years; sons, Kirby (Sam) Bachtold and Brandon (Angie) Bachtold; daughters, Vanessa (Justin) Vandom, Courtney Vandom and Brittany (Nelson) Vandom; mother, Norma Reed; brother, Chuck Reed; grandchildren, Dabion, Stacia Leigh and Jaeden Bachtold, Raylea, Zoe and Payton Bachtold, Kyleigh McKim and Austyn Boyd, Leteyiah Vandom, Evan and Dravyn Vandom, all of Gillette; and several nieces, nephews and aunts. She was preceded in death by her father, dearly beloved grandparents, Lola Mae and Lawrence Blake, four uncles, one aunt and mother-in-law, Bonnie Hall. She was the light in all of our lives and will be forever missed. Services for Valerie will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010, at the Family Life Church with the Rev. Marty Crump officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Memorials may be sent in her name to vanessavandom@collinscom.net.
