Funeral service for Karen M. Condo will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at the First Assembly of God Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Rev. Dan Holden officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillette-Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. A late lunch will be served after at First Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010 at the Walker Funeral Home. Karen Condo, age 43 passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota from complications of surgery. Karen Marie Condo known to her family and friends as Birdi was born on June 25, 1966 the daughter of Tex J. and Wanda K. (Torrance) Condo in Sheridan, Wyoming. The family resided in Montana and at the age of seven Karen attended the Wyoming State Training School in Lander, Wyoming. As a special needs child, Karen stayed in Lander till she was twenty six years old. She moved to Gillette and lived with several organizations until she found her home with a special family habilitation home in Gillette. Although Karen was refined to a wheelchair she enjoyed dancing along to the music, swinging her arms and making her wheelchair move. Karen loved music often playing a piano that was donated. She also listened to her special music on the radio and CDs. Karen felt the best when she was surrounded by her housemates and friends. She loved to be around babies and children. Karen was content to watch people at the various events the family would take her to. Carnivals with rides were a favorite activity as was going to rodeos and watching wrestling. Balloons were a great fascination for Karen. She loved to blow on them and watch them drift into the air. With her family she would attend the First Assembly of God church on occasion. Karen is survived by her special family, her mother, Wanda Pond of Sturgis, South Dakota; her father, Tex Condo of Savannah, Georgia; one brother, Michael Condo of Gillette, WY; one sister, Sandra Hauer of Torrington, WY; her grandmother, Louise Torrance of Torrington, WY; one uncle, two cousins and several nieces and nephew. She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Vern Torrance and one uncle. A memorial has been established in Karens name and may be sent in care to the Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette,WY 82716.
