Parks age 66, lost his long and courageous battle with cancer on March 4, 2010 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Gillette, WY. Roger William Parks was born May 29, 1943 to William and Dorothy (Shaw) Parks in Pierre, South Dakota. He graduated High School in Blunt, SD and attended college in Huron, SD. Roger married Carol Winter in South Dakota and was blessed with two children, Deb and Todd, the couple later divorced. He worked for an engineering firm in South Dakota, which re-located him to Gillette in 1981. Roger met Deb Oliver in 1982 and they were married in 1984. He went to work for the City of Gillette in 1984 and was employed there until his illness forced his retirement. Roger had a very full life and loved every minute of it. He was a very loving husband, father and grandfather. His love for his wife and family were un-measurable. He made many trips to North Dakota to support his grandchildren as they participated in various sports, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was always there to encourage them in the wins as well as their losses. Roger loved sports and he enjoyed golf and playing cards with his buddies. He had many hobbies which included his love for raising horses. His most recent hobby in the last few years was landscaping, he planted about 200 trees on our land, and most of them have made it and are beautiful. He made many friends in Gillette over the years and was always willing to help out where he was needed. He always said His life couldnt be more complete. He was such a strong but quiet man, his actions always spoke louder than his words. Rogers knowledge, kindness and presence will be missed by his family as well as our community.
