Funeral service for Harry Bill Lancaster will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, WY with military honors provided by the American Legion Post #42. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Bill Lancaster age 66, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital following a long fight with cancer. Harry William Bill Lancaster was born in West Virginia May 15, 1943 to Harry and Bertha (Caulfield) Lancaster. He graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, MO and enlisted in the United States Navy where he was a member of the Special Forces, and served three tours of duty in Vietnam. On his first shore leave he married Rosemarie Riker March 1, 1967 in Monterey, CA. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy they moved back to Missouri and he attended college receiving his Associates Degree in Law Enforcement. After graduating he was employed at a deputy sheriff for several years prior to moving to Wyoming in 1982. Bill went to work in the mining industry as a heavy equipment mechanic and he also opened a small engine shop which he operated for several years. After becoming disabled he built late model race cars and trucks with his son-in-law and grandchildren. Bill loved traveling to watch the races and working with them in the pit. When he found out he had cancer he took up wood crafts, he built many things which he gave to all his family and friends. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bill is survived by his wife Rosemarie of Gillette, WY; daughters, Debbie (Robert) Nelson of MO; Tina Nolte of Elko, NV; Cindy (Tony) Sims of Gillette, WY; Joanna Lancaster of PA; sixteen grandchildren; sister, Fay Hunt-Barhorst. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in the Lancaster Family Name.
