Vernetta E. Betty Freng passed away Sunday, June 21, 2009 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital. No services are planned; burial will take place at Morris Hill Cemetery, Boise, Idaho next to her husband, at a later date. Betty was born June 29, 1919 in Sheridan, WY to George T. and Ida (Lackous) Daniels. She spent her early years in Gillette, WY, entering first grade and gradating from Campbell County High School in 1937. After working for two years in Gillette she went to Sheridan, WY and attended Heiman Commercial College. She received a Civil Service appointment in 1941 to Fort Warren in Cheyenne, WY; there she met a soldier, Alton Bud Freng. They were married at Tacoma, WA on August 1, 1942 and lived there while Bud was stationed at Fort Lewis, WA. As an army wife she followed him to Camp McCoy, WI and later to Fort Benning, GA. When Bud was sent overseas in World War II, Betty went to San Francisco, CA to live with an aunt and work while Bud was gone. Bud returned and was discharged in 1945 and they made their home in Buds home town, Weiser, ID until 1956 when they moved to Boise, ID. Betty worked for the State Department of Law Enforcement for 25 years, retiring in 1981. Bud passed away in 1981 and Betty remained in their home in Boise until June of 2009 when she moved back to Gillette. Betty kept busy during her retirement years volunteering at St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center for 23 years. She belonged to the Happy Hoofers senior walking club where she met many good and lasting friends. Betty loved music and was a member of the Foot Note a senior chorus, they sang for retirement homes, senior citizens clubs and nursing homes. She liked to read, play cards, work crossword puzzles and work in her yard. She lived with her beloved companion, her miniature schnauzer, Joey and kitten Missy. Betty is survived by her nieces, Connie (Jim) Edwards of Gillette, WY; Linda (George) Dunlap of Gillette, WY and great nieces and nephews, Brett (Gabe) DArthenay, Isabella DArthenay, William (Amber) Dunlap, Lilyanna and Liam Dunlap, Robert (Misti) Dunlap, Lindsey Dunlap. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ida Daniels, husband, Bud Freng, sisters, Carole Conrad and Georgia Daniels.
