A memorial service for Nedra Volland will be at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Walker Funeral Home, Gillette, Wyoming with Rev. Mark Largent of Faith Community Church officiating. A memorial service with interment will be at a later date in Paola, Kansas. Nedra Evelyn (Dennerline) Volland age 87 of Gillette, Wyoming, formally of Paola, Kansas passed away May 22, 2009 at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Gillette, Wyoming of natural causes. Nedra was born March 6, 1922 in Paola, Kansas the daughter of John Edward and Mattie Pearl (Endicott) Dennerline. She was raised in Paola and attended Paola High School where she graduated in 1940. Nedra was very active with her class in school activities during that time. In November of 1944 she was united in marriage with Harold E. Emmart with whom she had two children, Eddie and Ronnie. Nedra stayed at home raising their children until 1967 when she retuned to work at the Miami County Court House and later at Citizens State Bank. Nedra and Harold divorced in1970 after which she went to work for Osawatomie State Hospital. In 1974 she transferred to Osawatomie Social and Rehabilitation Services. On December 6, 1975 Nedra was united in marriage with Harry Volland. Nedra helped raise the two youngest of Harrys six children, Rebecca Sue and Deborah Marie. She retired from Social Services in 1986. Nedra was baptized at the Christian Church in Paola, Kansas and transferred to the Presbyterian Church in 1956 where she was a charter member of Mothers Club of the church. Nedra was also a member of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and Needlecraft Club. Her hobbies included playing the organ, reading, handwork, collecting salt dishes, and antiquing. She also enjoyed camping with her family when she was younger, singing, and her home. Nedra is survived by her husband Harry Volland of Gillette, Wyoming; sons: Harry Louis Volland, and Tom Volland; daughters: Veronica Corlew, Loretta Caine, Rebecca Ralston, and Deborah Volland; and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Eddie in 1968 and Ronnie in 1977, and a sister Neva Mae Gambrell. Nedra will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
