A memorial service for Gary Black will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 15, 2009 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Gillette Wyoming with Pastor Hans Sacrison officiating. Gary David Black, 66, of Gillette died Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital. Gary was born October 31st, 1942 to Clayton and Lydia Black in Portland Oregon. He grew up and attended school in the Portland area. He graduated from high school in Newberg, Oregon. Gary married Gloria Jean (Jeannie) Dikoff at the Bethlehem Church in Gillette, Wyoming on June 24th, 1978. They raised three sons in the Gillette area, all of whom graduated from Wright Jr/Sr. High School. Gary worked the majority of his adult life as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator. He worked for various construction companies through the boom and bust years in the Gillette area. In 1987 he went to work for PC Transport where he spent the next 21 years hauling propane and other product throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. Most recently, he drove for Hettinger Welding servicing the coal bed methane fields. Gary was a character and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, tinkering with (but never really finishing) old fixer-uppers, watching football on Sundays, shooting, fishing and hunting (mostly shooting since hunting requires actually hitting the target), boating, camping, and bowling. Gary is survived by his loving wife Jeannie, three sons: Jamie and fiance Katie Roche, Jason, and Josh, all of Gillette and six grandchildren: Jade, Ashley, Emily, Saige, Paige, and Skylar, all of Gillette. He will be greatly missed by all. He is also survived by one sister, Joni Hornecker, of Phoenix, Arizona, and one brother, Clayton Black Jr., of Greene, Iowa. Gary also acknowledged as his closest and lifelong friends, the Dave Morris family of Casper, Wyoming. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Penny Black. Memorials and condolences may be sent in his name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming, 82716.
