Graveside service for Mable Record will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Mt.Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, Wyoming. Services provided by Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Luncheon and fellowship to follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Shelter. Mable Record age 102, passed away Monday, May 11, 2009 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Gillette, Wyoming Mable Marie Lawson Record was born November 25, 1906 in Hollenberg, Kansas to Olaf and Luella Lawson. The Lawson family moved to their homestead near Upton, Wyoming in 1916. Mabel taught school at Wyodak six miles east of Gillette. She married Eugene William Slats Record in 1928; they had two children, Loleta Marie and Mary March. Mable was very active with school events, Womens Club activities, Chapter V of PEO, and Order of the Eastern Star, gardening in her beautiful yard, and playing bridge with her many friends. Besides having a green thumb, Mable was very artistic. Her home was filled with paintings and arts and crafts. Slats and Mable traveled to Hawaii and Mexico as well as almost every state in the United States. They became snowbirds and lived several years in Sun City, Arizona, where they enjoyed the many golf courses and the social life. Mable is survived by one daughter, Leta Tanner of Gillette, Wyoming; grandson, Richard Tanner of Ft. Stockton, Texas; one sister-in-law Thelma Record of Gillette, Wyoming, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Mary Collins; Marys baby girl; grandson, Jeffery Tanner, in 1978; her parents, one brother, Charles; two sisters, Audley and Elva. A memorial has been established in Mables name to benefit Campbell County Senior Citizen Center.
