Mass of Christian Burial for Julie Gutknecht will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Matthews Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Philip Vaske as celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow at the Gillette, Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m., Thursday, February 5, 2009 a vigil/rosary service will follow at 6 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home. Julie Ann Gutknecht passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009 at her home in Gillette of an apparent cardiac event.. Julie was born June 18, 1963 the daughter of Michael and Dorothy (Tibor) Hauck in Bismarck, North Dakota. Her childhood was spent in Stanton, North Dakota before moving to Gillette, Wyoming in 1976 to start the eighth grade. Throughout her middle and high school years she excelled in sports and academics. She attended 3 years of college at the University of Wyoming. Her son Michael Cranston was born in 1984 and her daughter Christina Cranston in 1987. She married Ryan Gutknecht in 2004 and added three step-children to her family, Rachel Cannon from Bristol, Tennessee, Kevin and Jenna Gutknecht from Gillette. She also felt honored to have two grandchildren, Nathan and Shaylen Cannon. Her greatest gift was her five children and was committed to guide them for success in their futures. Julie loved camping, family gatherings, scrapbooking, dancing and garage sales. Christmas was her most exciting time of the year from decorating to baking to wrapping presents. One of Julies favorite pastimes was reminiscing and telling stories about her children and family which she loved dearly. Family was her passion, she was a full time mother and one of Julies greatest gifts was that of giving of herself. She volunteered for Relay for Life, Girl Scouts, Multiple Sclerosis Walk for a Cure, Campbell County Memorial Hospital, and St. Matthews Catholic Church, she gave of herself freely and she is loved for that and will be missed dearly. Julie is survived by her husband Ryan Gutknecht, of Gillette, Wyoming; son, Michael Cranston of Bozeman, Montana; daughter, Christina Cranston of Gillette, Wyoming; her parents, Michael and Dorothy Hauck of Gillette, Wyoming; brother, Joe Hauck, sisters, Tammy Eadus , Mary Fogle all of Gillette, Wyoming; and Debbie Flohr of Minnesota, her step-children Rachel Cannon of Bristol, Tennessee; Kevin and Jenna Gutknecht of Gillette, Wyoming; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frances and Michael Hauck and Joseph and Margaret Tibor. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Julies name and its use will be designated at a later date.
