Fields Kathleen

January 9, 1952 — January 23, 2009

Funeral services for Kathleen Fields, age 57, of Gillette, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January. 26, 2009 at the Walker Funeral Home, with Pastor Elwain McKeen of the Gillette Christian Center officiating. Private Family Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Kathleen was born January 9, 1952 in Fostoria, OH to Edmund Ross and Kathryn (Burns) Hogan. She spent the majority of her childhood in the Buffalo, NY area where she developed a life-long love of all things horse. She moved back to Ohio in 1970 to attend Hiram College, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature. She then went on to get her Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) from Cleveland Marshall School of Law. After college Kathleen moved to South Louisiana to work as a Land Advisor in the oil and gas industry. In 1980 she met, and then married, her best friend and love of her life Eugene Nick Fields. They had their only child, their daughter Spring in 1981. In 1981 the family moved to Texas where they spent the next 15 years living, working, riding their horses, and raising Spring. In Texas Kathleen worked as a Land Advisor, Family Law attorney, Criminal Law attorney, and an Employment Law attorney. In 1995 the family moved to Portland, OR where Kathleen continued her work in Employment Law, eventually going into Human Resources. She held State Bar Licenses in Louisiana, Texas, and Oregon. Nick and Kathleen moved to Gillette in 2002. Here they set up their dream home with all of the barns and horses they could handle. She worked here as a Land Advisor for Devon Energy. She saw her daughter get married in 2006 and was elated by the birth of her granddaughter, Olivia, in September 2007. Kathleen passed away on Friday, January 23, 2009 after spending 7 years upending medical knowledge as we know it. Her fierce determination to live and her resilience in her illness gave those who knew her many more years to love her than we should have been allowed. Kathleen is survived by her husband, Nick, daughter, Spring, and granddaughter, Olivia, all of Gillette, WY and her parents Ross and Kitty Hogan of Damascus, OR; brother James Hogan of Topeka, KS; and sister Patricia Oremus of Damascus, OR. She was preceded in death by her brother Ross Hogan. Memorials and condolences can be sent in Kathleens name in care of Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com.
