Robert W. Bob Lawson, age 69, passed away at the Rapid City Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 18, 2009 of multiple myeloma. Funeral service for Bob will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Family Life Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Mike Morrison of the Cowboy Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Walker Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. with Sister Carol Mechtenberg OSF presiding. Robert William Lawson was born on April 29, 1939 the son of Charles and Josephine (Joslyn) Lawson at Gillette, Wyoming. The family moved to Newcastle where Bob was raised and educated, graduating from Newcastle High School. As a young man, Bob worked at the Newcastle Cold Storage. He did attend college for a couple years before returning to Newcastle to work in construction for the Dilts Construction Company. He started his career in the oilfield business when he was employed by the Simmons Hot Oil Company working in Midwest and Lynch, Wyoming areas. Bob served his country by enlisting in the Wyoming National Guard. He moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1967. He married Beverly Boucher on July 18, 1969 at Newcastle, Wyoming. The couple made their home in Gillette and started the B&B Construction in 1969. Bob continued to build a thriving family business throughout his lifetime. When Bob was not working he enjoyed spending time going to the family cabin, woodworking, fishing, hunting, riding four wheelers, and camping. His favorite time was spent visiting, telling jokes and playing with his kids and granddaughters, Amber, Crimson and Brittany. Bob was known for his honesty, integrity and giving people a second chance. He is survived by his wife Beverly Lawson, one son, Kyle Lawson, one daughter Denise (Chuck) McIntosh, all of Gillette, Wyoming; three brothers, Charles Lawson, David Lawson and Gene Lawson, one sister, Judy Hays, and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
