Funeral services for Robert J. While will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Scott Firminhac officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2008 at Walker Funeral Home Robert Bob J. While was born to Joseph and Helen (Richmond) While in Rawlins, Wyoming on May 15, 1938. Bob attended schools in Casper and graduated from the University of Wyoming with a BA in pre-law. He moved to Miles City, Montana to teach in the Junior High where he taught government for three years. While there he met and married Dianne Drewelow in 1962. Bob received a Masters Degree in School Administration from South Dakota State University and moved to Minnesota where he practiced school administration as a high school principal for two years. Longing for the west, they moved back to Montana where he was a high school principal in Colstrip for four years. Robert moved with his family to Gillette in 1970 where he served as Junior High Assistant Principal and later Principal of Twin Spruce Junior High when Sage Valley opened. He received a Staff Development Specialist Degree from the University of Wyoming and worked in staff development at the Campbell County School Central Office for a few years before becoming a principal at Rawhide and Recluse. He retired in 1997 after serving in Gillette education for 27 years. Robert served on the Gillette City Council from 1975 to 1984. During this important major growth period for Gillette the council brought in our source of water, the Madison Water Project, the building of the Gurley Overpass, Warlow Drive and the Gillette City Hall Building. Roberts goal in life was to make a positive difference on the people and places he lived. He is survived by his mother Helen, of Casper, his wife, Dianne, his three children Michelle of Rapid City, Todd of Gaithersburg, MD and Brent of Henderson, NV and three grandsons Joseph, Sam and Cristian. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph.
