Funeral and Rosary services for Elva Johnson will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Shelter with Father Cliff Jacobson officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the services at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Shelter. Funeral arrangements are entrusted by Gillette Memorial Chapel formerly Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Mrs. Johnson, age 93, of Gillette, Wyoming died at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home on Wednesday, June 4, 2008 of natural causes. Elva Johnson was born in September 7, 1914 the daughter of Fred and Mary (Wagener) Blaske in Blue Rapids, Kansas. She worked on the family farm in Kansas and for families as a nanny. This took her to many areas of the United States including Seattle, Houston and Kansas City. On October 22, 1949 she married John D. Johnson in St. Mary?s, Kansas. The couple made their home on their family ranch in Stroner, Wyoming where they raised their only child, Mary. Elva worked at Pioneer Manor, Deckers, Lang Laundromat and as a housekeeper from 1965-1976 when she lived in town. She then retired to the family ranch until November of 1998 when she returned to Gillette. In July of 2004 she entered the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. She loved lambs (after they were off the bottle), cooking, sewing, drying her clothes on the clothesline and gardening. Elva is survived by her daughter, Mary Mercer of Gillette, Wyoming; sister, Lila Drumheller of Boise, Idaho; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister and son-in-law, Charles.
