A celebration of life for Dale E. Allen will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the Walker Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Davis of the Grace Mission Baptist Church of Kaycee, Wyoming officiating. Upon his request a private cremation service has taken place and an interment of his cremains will be at a later date.Dale Allen, age 67 passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming from complications of lung disease.Dale Edward Allen was born on June 24, 1940 the son of John and Juanita Schwenneker Allen in Harrison, Nebraska. He graduated high school in 1958. Dale enlisted in the US Navy in 1962 and served his country in Viet Nam as a "Tin Bender" After his honorable discharge in 1966 he went to work for the Fruehauf Company in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and was employed as a "Tin Bender till the early 70's. On May 28, 1966 he married Virginia Lay and they were later divorced. During the later 70's he moved to Gillette, Wyoming and was employed for Barney's Auger and Anchor Service and tested anchors. In 1980 he started to work for the Amax Coal Company as a haul truck driver. Dale was passionate about working for the coal mine. He retired in the mid 90's due to an illness. On April 11, 1986 he married Joanne L. Brosmire and they continued to make their home in Gillette, Wyoming.Dale was an avid sports fan and especially liked the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Colorado Rockies. He could build anything and had an amazing electric train layout. Dale's other passion was for old cars. He was always known as a good provider for his family.Dale is survived by his wife, Joanne Allen of Gillette, Wyoming, one son, Greg Allen of Lincoln, Nebraska, stepsons, Matt Howard of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Greg Howard of Las Vegas, Nevada, one daughter, Monica Brock of Kaycee, Wyoming, stepdaughter, Linda Langley of Shelbyville, Missouri, two sisters, Connie Sue Cooley and Birdie Walker both of Newcastle, Wyoming, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister Jeanette and one stepson, Travis Howard.A memorial has been established in Dale's name and memorials or condolences may be sent to Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the website: www.walkerfuneralgillette.com
