Alvin Suedekum

A memorial service for Alvin Suedekum will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Peggy Brown officiating. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Mr. Suedekum, age 67, of Gillette, Wyoming died at his home on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 after battling lung cancer for several months.Alvin Harve Suedekum was born on January 11, 1941 in Mesa, Colorado the son of Harve and Mae (Marcum) Suedekum. As a child Al lived throughout Kansas and Colorado due to his father's occupation, graduating from Sterling, Colorado High School in 1959. Al moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1964. He worked for Boyd's Grocery Store for 17 years. Al also worked at Albertson's, Wyoming National Bank, Gillette Campus, Decker's, and Humphrey's for 13 years. Most recently, he worked at Don's Grocery Store. Al married Marge Reynolds on April 1, 1967. They had two children: Michelle Russell and Matt Suedekum. His friends and family will fondly remember his sense of humor and the twinkle in his eye when he was being ornery. Al enjoyed playing cards, cars, collecting eagles, going to Deadwood, South Dakota, working in his yard and spending time with his family and a cold beer.Alvin is survived by his wife, Marge Suedekum of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Michelle and her husband Jim Russell of Casper, Wyoming; son, Matt and his wife Reana Suedekum of Covington, Virginia; 3 grandchildren: Bryce, Blaine and Brooke; and sister, Jean Kimber of Great Bend, Kansas.He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.Memorials may be made to benefit Campbell County Memorial Hospital Hospice for the Hospice House or the Cancer Care Center Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
