Funeral services for Doris Swanson will be at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Morel of Family Life Church officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Doris Swanson, 83, died April 19, 2008, of natural causes at Pioneer Manor in Gillette, Wyoming. Doris Swanson was born on July 24, 1924, in Grass Range, Montana, to Robert and Katherine Dinger. She attended school in Tensleep, Wyoming. On October 27, 1945 she married Irven Swanson in Thermopolis, Wyoming. In 1958 the couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming. They had three children; Paulette Sjolin, Rick Swanson and Robert Swanson. Doris worked as a bartender, barmaid and waitress. She also worked for the State of Wyoming. In addition to being a housewife, she managed Rolling Hills Trailer Park for over 30 years. Doris was a member of the local chapter of the FOE Ladies Auxiliary and the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed baking, singing, listening to classic country music, taking trips to Deadwood, South Dakota, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by her husband, Irven Swanson; her sisters Loretta Williams and Bea Neuman; her daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Larry Sjolin; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick Swanson and Bev Baughman; 10 grandchildren, Bonita Schweitzer, Debbie Hunt, Mark Nielsen, Deana Epley, Theresa Skalinder, Amber Chavez, Aurora Swanson, Crystal McDermit, Waylon Swanson, and Terry Sjolin; 18 great-grandchildren; and 4 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Katherine Dinger; her brothers Clifford Dinger and Freddie Dinger; and her son Robert Swanson.Memorials in Doris's name are suggested to benefit Pioneer Manor.
