Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home celebrating with Rodney and Eleanor Elmore. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rodney and Eleanor Elmore officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis. Raymond Jerald "Jerry" Ristesund, 56, Gillette, WY, died Monday, April 7, 2008 at the VA Black Hills Health Care Center at Fort Meade. Jerry was born November 9, 1951 at Madison, SD, to Raymond and Dorothy (Goodwin) Ristesund. He attended school at Howard, SD, and graduated from Stevens High School in Rapid City, SD. Jerry attended college at South Dakota State University at Brookings, SD and Black Hills State in Spearfish, SD. He joined the United States Army and served his country in Korea in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge, he moved to Wyoming in the early 80's where he was employed in the oil fields. Later he worked for the state highway department. Jerry married Suzann "Sue" Buckley at Gillette, WY on July 14, 1985. Jerry was employed by the Campbell County Sheriff's Office for 10 years before opening Trends Furniture in 1996. He owned and operated the furniture store at the time of his death. Jerry was an avid basketball fan. He enjoyed playing pool, ping pong, cribbage, and bowling. He was a great encourager, and he loved to talk about God.Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue Ristesund of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Rebekah (Dan) Bane, Denver, Colorado; his mother, Dorothy Ristesund, Volga, South Dakota; brothers, Randy Ristesund, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Gary (Patty) Ristesund, Montrose, South Dakota, Todd (Gloria) Ristesund, Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sisters, Patty (Jodee) Flippin, Eastland, Texas, Sandy (Jerry) Callies, New Prague, Minnesota, Kimberly Ristesund, Volga, South Dakota, Tami (Paul) Klinkhammer, Wichita, Kansas.He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond and one nephew Jason.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Jerry's name in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
