An informal gathering and time of fellowship to honor the life of Glen E. White will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. All those wishing to share in his memory are welcome to attend.Glen White, age 78, of Gillette, Wyoming died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital following an eight year battle with lung cancer.Glen Eugene White was born on December 10, 1929 the son of Glen and Edith (Barber) White in Eads, Colorado. He graduated from high school in Fort Collins, Colorado and went onto business school in Colorado Springs, where he met Joy Bigler. They were married May 11, 1951 in Mobile, AL. To this union five children were born. Glen volunteered for service in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his service he assisted his parents at White's Grocery store; owned and operated Glen's Hobby Haven; and also a service station. He worked with H & R Block offices in northern Colorado and managed the office in Rapid City, South Dakota. After three years in Rapid City, Glen moved his family to Gillette, Wyoming where Glen worked in the oil field before opening another H & R Block office. He eventually sold that franchise and opened White Accounting where he worked until his death. What he loved most about his many jobs was the people he got to meet, having many clients become his friends. Glen had a passion for all sports, but held a particular love for baseball. He shared his love of the game involving himself in the Little League program in Rapid City, South Dakota and was instrumental in organizing the Little League program in Gillette. He and Joy also enjoyed many quiet hours fishing at Cook and Texaco lakes, playing black jack in Deadwood, and you could often find him playing solitaire on his computer in the office. They were able to enjoy the trip of a lifetime when they visited Australia for 3 weeks 6 years ago.Glen is survived by his wife, Joy White of Gillette, Wyoming; brother Al White of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sister, Zelda Peterson of Greeley, Colorado; children: Debbie Darko-Johnson and husband Buzz of Indianapolis, Indiana, Pam White-Sheridan and husband Ed of Phoenix, Arizona; Doug White and wife Shirley of Cripple Creek, Colorado, Don White and wife Bonnie of Atwood, Kansas and Gary White and wife Terra of Gillette, Wyoming; thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
