Memorial service for Robert "Bob" Dockter will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Scott Firminhac of the Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Bismarck, North Dakota.Robert Christian Dockter, known to his family and friends as "Bob", age 82, passed away on March 8, 2008 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital from complications of surgery.Robert Christian Dockter was born on June 18, 1925, the son of Jake and Alvina (Nagel) Dockter in Tuttle, North Dakota. Bob was raised and educated in Tuttle. On July 2, 1948 he was married to Sadie Ojanen in Bismarck, North Dakota. They have been married for almost 60 years! Bob left the family farm near Goodrid, North Dakota in the spring of 1948 to work as a mechanic for Davis Chevrolet in Bismarck, North Dakota. He was employed there for nine years and decided to make a change in his vocation. Bob moved to Utah to attend school and became and employee of CB & R Railroad in Wyoming, now known as the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He retired in 1987 and since then has worked in carpentry and maintenance and volunteered at the Senior Center. Bob also delivered Meals on Wheels with his wife. He was a member of the American Legion and of Trinity Lutheran church.Bob is survived by his wife, Sadie, his sons; Kevin (Camille) R. Dockter and Mark H. Dockter, his daughters Patrice (Gary) Carter and Lori (Mike) Baken, brothers; Arnold (Sharon) Dockter and Dale (Linda) Dockter, sisters; Hattie Zechiel, Erma (Ray) Stordahl, Elsie Schmitke and Florence (Vernon) Kluck, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.Bob is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herbert and Ervin Dockter, and three sisters, Gertrude Desing, Clara Fairchild and Esther Hertz.A memorial has been established in Bob's name to benefit the American Diabetes Association and memorials can be sent to the Walker Funeral Home at 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
