Funeral service for Michael W. Brown will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Kenna Rose as Celebrant. The family requests that casual clothing be worn for the celebration of Michael's life. Burial will follow in the Gillette-Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Michael passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2008 at his home in Gillette from a long illness. He was 49 years old. Michael William Brown was born on July 28, 1958 the son of Eugene and Mary B. (Kearns) Brown in Casper, Wyoming. For a short time the family resided in Newcastle, Wyoming. They moved to Gillette, Wyoming when Michael was four years old.Michael attended Kindergarten through the 12th grade in Gillette and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1976. After graduation Michael worked for various oil field companies as a pumper in the Gillette area. He married Sherrie Carroll in 1982 in Gillette, Wyoming and they had two children. They later divorced and Michael married a second time and had two children. He later divorced and for the last seven years was devoted to his partner Vickie Brimmer. In 2000 he was working as an electrician for the local coal mines. Michael was injured which led to his disability for the last seven years.Michael was passionate about the arts and was always a creative person. Writing poetry and creating music was a continual source of inspiration for him. Michael played the drums and guitar. He was a compassionate person that donated his "Fender" guitar to a terminally ill child. He would give anything to anybody that needed a helping hand. Michael never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed the out of doors, often driving around with his children for a scenic tour. Michael was proud of his Indian heritage and often made walking and prayer sticks. He collected pictures and figurines of wolves. Michael will be greatly missed by the many friends he made through his journey on this earth. His humor, wit, creativity and passion left a mark on everyone around him.He is survived by his two sons: Josh Brown and Maverick "Mav" Brown of Laramie, Wyoming, two daughters: Lacey Brown of Douglas, Wyoming and Ali Brown of Laramie, Wyoming; his father, Eugene "Gene" Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; two brothers: Richard E. Brown of Littleton, Colorado and David A. Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; one sister, Sheila Brown of Gillette, Wyoming; and his best friend and girl friend, Vickie Brimmer of Gillette, Wyoming, two nieces, two nephews, and several cousins and aunts and uncles.Michael was preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, a half sister, Sandy and an infant nephew. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in the Brown Family name and donations may be sent in care of the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
