Funeral services for Lillie George will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Lillie Martha George, age 89, of Gillette, Wyoming died at her home on Friday, January 18, 2008 of natural causes.Lillie Martha Cole was born in Campbell County on July 14, 1918 the daughter of Henry C. and Nellie (Williams) Cole. She grew up on their farm 12 miles south of Gillette. Lillie attended rural schools through grade 8 and graduated from Campbell County High School in 1936. She attended the University of Wyoming. Lillie taught rural school for five years, worked as Deputy County Superintendent of schools for 10 years and worked in the administration department of Campbell County School District for 6 years. She lived her entire life in Campbell County. Lillie was active in many county and state organizations including; Community and County 4-H, Red Cross, Farm Bureau, Savageton Homebuilders, County Homemaker?s Council, business and professional women hospital volunteers, retired teacher?s association, advisory committee to the council on aging, and the American Association of Retired People. Lillie spent many hours doing volunteer work at the Campbell County Senior Center and Campbell County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed traveling and after she and her husband Ed retired, they traveled extensively. They especially enjoyed taking their grandchildren on trips with them. Lillie enjoyed reading, knitting, playing bridge, doing crossword puzzles, and engaging in activities with her husband and grandchildren. Lillie is survived by her son, Willis (LaDona) Geer of Chico, California; 2 grandchildren: Blaine (Lisa) Geer of Gillette, Wyoming and Tracey Geer (Collin Scott) of Tucson, Arizona; 2 step- grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Joey, Karli, and Lainey Geer all of Gillette, Wyoming and Liliana Scott of Tucson, Arizona; brother, Orville Cole of Aurora, Colorado; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed George, her parents, 2 sisters and 4 brothers.Memorials may be made to the Campbell County Memorial Hospital Oncology Center.
