Memorial services for Junior Morgan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel in Pioneer Manor Nursing Home with Pastor Doug Rumsey of the Antelope Valley Baptist Church officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #42. Mr. Morgan, age 83, of Moorcroft, Wyoming died on Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his nephew's home of natural causes. Norvin Deaver Morgan Jr., known to his family and friends as Junior, was born on January 24, 1924 in Moorcroft, Wyoming the son of Norvin and Alfreda (Deaver) Morgan. He was raised and educated in Gillette, Wyoming. In 1942 he entered the U.S. Navy. Serving in the Navy brought much travel and adventure until his honorable discharge in 1946. Junior returned to Gillette where he worked on the Deaver family ranch and also began to ranch on his land south of Gillette on Caballo Creek. On November 1, 1957 he began working as a mechanic at Wyodak eventually working in almost every aspect of coal production. Junior continued to ranch for himself and his parents until the family eventually sold their land. Junior was a water and oil dowser, he used his talent as a gift, never charging for his services, finding water for many friends, neighbors and family. He retired from Wyodak on December 31, 1989 after 32 years of service. In 1974 he moved to Moorcroft where he has resided since. In Moorcroft, Junior was a co-owner of the NAPA store with the Smith family. Junior loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed being with friends and family and playing cards and many trips to the family cabin in Story, Wyoming. Junior is survived by his siblings: Darlene Smith of Douglas, Wyoming, Jim Morgan, Richard Morgan, JoAnne McGuire all of Gillette, Wyoming, Marshall Morgan of Glen Rock, Wyoming and Mary Newman of Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Geraldine "Jerry" or "Lila" Walters, Harriet Brown, Jeanette Wise, Jane Cowan and Patricia Purcelli; brothers: William "Bill" Morgan, John Morgan and Donald Morgan.
