Funeral service for Robert Lee Hile will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Campbell County Memorial Hospital Chaplain Bob Rudicher officiating. A private cremation service has taken place and a private family scattering service will take place at a later date.Robert Hile, age 62, passed away November 27, 2007 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital, in Gillette, Wyoming of complications from diabetes.Robert was born December 12, 1944 the son of Claude and Maryann (Lantz) Hile in Des Moines, Iowa. Robert grew up in Cedar Falls, Iowa and attended Cedar Falls High School graduating in 1964. Following his graduation, he attended the Dunwoody Tech School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On May 23, 1966 he married Karen Kolsrud in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 8 years, serving part of it in the Philippines during the Vietnam Era. He was honorably discharged in 1972. Robert went to work with Neil?s Detroit Diesel in Tucson, Arizona and was transferred to Rawlins, Wyoming as a branch manager. In 1982, Robert moved to Gillette, Wyoming to work for Interstate Diesel. In 1992, Robert retired due to health reasons.Robert was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed working with horses and was an experienced outdoorsman. He could be seen reading books about fishing and hunting and was once a rattlesnake hunter in Texas. He loved to play cards with his family and friends and play Yahtzee with his two grandsons. He was a member of the Elk Lodge and the American Legion.Robert is survived by his daughter, Vicki Fulton of Alabama; sister, Diane Leer of Tucson, Arizona, dear friend and companion, Debbie Rhoades of Gillette, Wyoming, two grandsons Ryan and Nick Hile of Gillette, Wyoming, and his natural father Hiram Smith of Denver, Colorado.He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Maryann Hile.Condolences may be sent in Robert?s name to the family at Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Ct., Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com
