Funeral services for long time Gillette resident, Trula M. Benton will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Morel officiating from the Family Life Church. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.Mrs. Benton, age 98, passed away at Campbell County Memorial Hospital on Friday, November 23, 2007 of natural causes. Trula Benton was born in 1908 the daughter of Joseph and Emma Cover in Big Horn, Wyoming. Her parents homesteaded near Rocky Point in Campbell County, where a sod home was their residence. The family later returned to Big Horn to live. She received her education in Sheridan County schools. In 1928 she married E.J. Bing in Hardin, Montana. A son, William K. Bing was born to this union. The couple later divorced in 1931. Later she married William H. Hoffman. The couple resided in Sheridan and Dubois, Wyoming, Las Vegas, Nevada and California before making Gillette, Wyoming their home. During World War II, she and her husband worked in the California ship yards as welders on the Liberty Ships. After their retirement they traveled the Sunbelt and spent winters in St. George, Utah. In 1976 Mr. Hoffman died. In 1984 she married L. W. ?Jim? Benton in Gillette. The couple enjoyed touring the USA in the company of Trula?s sister, Hazel and her husband Lawrence. Mr. Benton died in 1995. Trula is survived by her sister, Hazel Williams; grandson, Wesley Cooper; step- daughter, Pat Billingsley all of Gillette, Wyoming; granddaughters: Kelly Salveson of Melbourne, Florida and Robin, Bing Hernandez of San Jose, California; nieces: Kristy Wheeler of Cody, Wyoming, Kelly McGannon of Kauai, Hawaii, Emma Jean, Wixom of Morgan, Utah and Helen Taylor of Dayton, Wyoming; nephews: Neil Cover and Greg Cover, sister in law, Leah Cover of Kaysville, Utah; several great nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husbands, parents, son and daughter- in- law, William and Jeanne Bing, brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and June Cover, brother, Truman Cover and sister, Kay Cover Fischer.Memorials and condolences may be sent in Trula's name in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th Street, Gillette, Wyoming 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
