Joan Richardson

Funeral service for Joan Kay Richardson will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2007 at the New Life Wesleyan Church in Gillette, WY with Pastor Wes Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette, WY.Joan passed away on Friday, November 23, 2007 at her home in Gillette of natural causes. She was 66 years old.Joan Kay Richardson, daughter of John and Evelyn (Smith) Vos, was born on April 15, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Joan spent most of her childhood in Kalamazoo before moving to Lansing, Michigan where she raised a family of five children and later went to work for Motor Wheel, a division of General Motors.Joan spent a lot of her time with her special friend and companion, Melvin Smith. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and sewing, and loved making pajama pants for everyone in her family. Reading was another passion of Joan's. She also loved baking and cooking for friends and family. While her son was in the service she would send him freshly baked banana bread. Joan was incredibly family oriented and loved all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren with all of her heart. Joan recently moved to Gillette, WY with her daughter Rita and her family.Joan is survived by son Rick (Tracy) Richardson of Hanover, Maryland, daughter Ruth (Lon) Milligan of Grand Ledge, Michigan, son Robert Richardson of Tennessee, son Ronald (Gail) Richardson of Sunfield, Michigan, daughter Rita (Barry) Searing of Gillette, Wyoming, 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.Joan is preceded in death by her parents, and her dear friend Melvin Smith.Condolences may be sent to the family at Walker Funeral Home 410 Medical Arts Ct, Gillette, WY 82716, or via the internet at www.walkerfuneralgillette.com
