Funeral services for Willis Burks will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Moorcroft, Wyoming with Pastor Guille Seigler officiating. Burial will follow in the Moorcroft Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette, Wyoming.Willis Lloyd Burks, age 69, of Moorcroft, Wyoming passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2007 of natural causes at his home in Moorcroft.Willis Lloyd Burks was born on September 19, 1938 the son of Ollie and Della (Jackson) Burks in Lovington, New Mexico. He attended school there and graduated in 1958. After graduation he went to work in the oil field. During that time he met and married Patricia Ann Rogers. They started a family and then moved to Cortez, Colorado where Willis went to work for Flint Rig. Their family continued to grow there. In 1964 he went to work for Texaco as a roustabout. In 1973 the family moved to Moorcroft, Wyoming where Willis became a production supervisor. After 34 years of working in the oil field Willis retired in 1993. His retirement was spent enjoying time with his family, grandchildren, golfing, and friends. He loved being able to follow his grandchildren?s sporting events. Willis was an avid coin collector. He enjoyed finding a rare or not so common coin. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan forever. Willis truly enjoyed spending time with his family during the holidays. Willis was a member of the Elks for 41 years.He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Moorcroft, Wyoming; son, Willis Jr. (Twyla) Burks of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter, Shanda (Rusty) Jones of Wright, Wyoming; grandchildren: Zachary (Hannah) Jones of Laramie, Wyoming, Jeremy Burks of Gillette, Wyoming, Cooper Jones of Laramie, Wyoming, Duncan Jones and Emi Jones both of Wright, Wyoming; brothers: Jerry (Linda) Burks of Austin, Texas and Roy (Dottie) Burks of Brownfield, Texas; brother-in-law, Ronnie (Pat) Rogers of Lovington, New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.Willis was preceded in death by his parents.Memorials are suggested to benefit the Moorcroft Ambulance Fund.
