Mass of Christian Burial for Thelma M. Ohman will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Gillette, Wyoming with Father Philip Vaske as Celebrant. Upon Thelma's wishes she will be cremated and her cremated remains will be placed on her husband's grave in the Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming at a later date.A Vigil/Rosary service will be at The St. Matthew's Catholic Church at 7p.m. on Monday, November 12, 2007. Thelma passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at her son and daughter-in-law's home in Gillette of cancer. She was 83 years old.Thelma Marie Ohman , the daughter and the youngest of six children born to Earl and Mae (Hahesy) Brown on her parents T-Chair Ranch in southern Campbell County on April 5, 1924. She attended the rural Brown School in her elementary years, riding to school by horseback, turning the horse loose and walking home at the end of the school day. Thelma graduated from Campbell County High School in 1942. In June of 1942 she enrolled at the St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Denver, Colorado and graduated in July of 1945. After graduation she worked as a registered nurse in Casper for six months till marrying Eric Ohman on January 9, 1946 in Casper, Wyoming. Thelma and Eric made their home on the Ohman Ranch southwest of Gillette. They raised sheep and cattle till Eric's death in 1986. Thelma continued to live on and work the ranch with her two sons until she passed away. She was an accomplished seamstress and taught many a child the art. Thelma enjoyed vegetable gardening and the canning fruits and vegetables. Thelma was active in the Republican politics. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. In the early 1970's Eric and Thelma traveled to Russia for two weeks.Thelma was a member of the St. Matthew's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Campbell County Cattle Women and a member of the Campbell County Wool Growers Auxiliary. In both these organizations she held the position of president, treasurer and secretary. With her husband Eric, she belonged to the Wyoming Flying Farmers and Ranchers. Thelma was the Wyoming Chapter Queen in 1964.Many will remember this special lady who had much love and concern for others in need, whether it was a phone call, a gift, a card, a visit or a helping hand she made time. Thelma is survived by her two sons, Joel E. and (Diana L.) Ohman of Gillette, Wyoming, and Victor N. (Donna M.) Ohman of Glenrock, Wyoming , one sister, Mary L. Lehrer of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, two sister-in-laws, Helen Flint and Wyoma Brown both of Gillette, Wyoming, eight step-grandchildren, four nieces and two nephews.She was preceded in death by her mother Mae in 1966, her father Earl in 1972, her husband Eric in 1986, her two brothers, Bernard and Franklin Brown, two sisters, Esther and Earlene Brown.Memorials may be made in Thelma's name to the charity of the donor's choice.
