Memorial services for Virginia Burr will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 8, 2007 at High Plains community Church with Pastor Dan Morgan officiating. Virginia L. Burr, age 83, long time resident of Campbell County passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home of natural causes.Virginia Burr was born on July 7, 1924, in Gibbon, Nebraska the daughter of Bill and Lamora (Morris) Schlauttman. On September 3, 1944, she married Floyd D. Thorne in Gillette, Wyoming. From this union two children were born. She lived on the family ranch southwest of Gillette on the Barlow route. They later divorced. On August 30 1958, she married Leslie Burr in Gillette, Wyoming. From this union two children were born. They ranched on the family homestead east of Gillette. Virginia worked on the family ranch, various restaurants, and retired from the Campbell County School District as a custodial supervisor. She loved working hard, animals of all kinds, dancing, and playing cards. She liked camping, most outdoor activities, and enjoyed meeting her friends for coffee.Virginia is survived by her husband, Les Bur of Gillette, Wyoming; her children: Lamora Parker of Oak Harbor, Washington, Bill Throne, Leslie Petersen, and Vicky Black all of Gillette, Wyoming; sister, Virgene Pulver of Glendo, Wyoming, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Bob and Don Schlattman.Memorials may be given in her name to benefit the Hospice House of Gillette, Wyoming.
