Funeral services for Robert Steinhoefel will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Kenna Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Bob Steinhoefel, age 80, of Gillette, Wyoming passed away on Monday, September 24, 2007 at Sheridan Manor Nursing Home in Sheridan, Wyoming of natural causes.Robert A. "Bob" Steinhoefel was born on August 30, 1927 to Adolph and Louise (Fleming) Steinhoefel at the family homestead southeast of Gillette. He was a life long resident of Campbell County and attended local schools, graduating from High School in 1945. After his father's death when he was four, he and his mother continued living at the family ranch south of Gillette. As a child he was active in 4-H. He helped his mother with the ranch throughout his life. During the blizzards of 1949 he helped to deliver food, mail and livestock feed to other ranches, besides taking care of his mother's ranch. He was inducted into the Army on November 4, 1950 and transferred to Active Reserves in October of 1952. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal in August of 1956. During his time in the service he served in the Korean Conflict as a transport truck driver, motor grader operator and cook. He held a high regard for military service for the rest of his life. He was a 55 year member of the American Legion. He served on the American Legion Drill Team for 30 years. He especially enjoyed cooking at the annual Hunter Burger dinner at the Legion and carrying the American Flag for the 4th of July parades. He was also a long time member of the Moose Lodge. On December 19, 1959 he married Maxine Addison in Gillette and they had four children. They later divorced. He ranched and farmed on the family homestead as well as his own property for most of his life. He did contract haying for local ranches during the late 1960's and early 1970's. He and Maxine owned and lived at Meadowlark Lodge Resort in the 1970's. He returned to the ranch in 1979. On November 22, 1980 he married Margot Clayton in Douglas, Wyoming. In May of 2007, he and his wife moved from the ranch to the Stocktrail Apartments in Gillette, due to declining health. He is survived by his wife, Margot of Gillette, Wyoming; daughters: Vicki (Joe) Schlautmann, Renee (Tom) Wetherelt, Sherry Addison, all of Gillette, Wyoming; son, Mike (Sue) Addison of Havelock, Ontario, step-daughters, Stevia (Bill) Anda of Keswick, Virginia, Chris Rimmer of Las Vegas, Nevada and Lisa (Gary) Lefebvre of Merrimack, New Hampshire. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.A memorial has been established in his name to benefit the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
