Memorial service for Mary G. Zook will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wed. September 5, 2007 at the Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel in the Pioneer Manor, with Pastor David Berger of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Linn County, Iowa. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements. Mrs. Zook, age 91, of Gillette, died on Sunday, September. 2, 2007, of natural causes at the Pioneer Manor Nursing Home in Gillette. Mary was born on November 5, 1915, in Ames, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Leah (Lower) Morris. She was raised and educated in Shipley, Iowa graduating from Shipley High School in 1933. On May 12, 1938 she married Edwin Zook in Missouri. The couple made their home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. As a mother of 8, she spent much of her time caring for her children. Hardworking; Mary did find time to work various part-time jobs throughout her life. Mary and Edwin eventually retired to Brooklyn, Iowa. Mary resided there until 1995 when she came to Gillette to be near her family. Mary enjoyed: vegetable and flower gardening, reading, crocheting, playing games including cribbage as well as spending time with her dog Top ?C?. She will be missed by her children: Mary E. Wilson, Raymond L .(Kay) Zook, Rita A. Zook, Jean M. Zook all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Earl ?Jim? (Leslie) Zook and Susan K. Zook both of Gillette, David M Zook of Denver, Colorado and Carol L. (Lester) Wacker of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces an nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 2 sisters and her husband.
