Funeral services for long time Gillette resident, Darlene Vigil, will be held on Thursday, September. 6, 2007 at the Family Life Church in Gillette, with Pastor Bill Morel officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette. Visitation will be held at the Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home on Wed. September. 5, 2007 from 4-7. Mrs. Vigil, age 70, died on Sat. September. 1, 2007 at her home after a brief illness.Darlene Louise was born on December 12, 1936 in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin the daughter of Howard and Mary Alice (Lane) Stickney. She was raised and educated there until moving to Gillette with her family in junior high school. Upon her schooling she married Joe Vigil on June 21, 1952 in Gillette. The couple made their home and raised their family here. Darlene?s primary focus was on raising her kids caring for her husband and their home. She loved to cook, playing bingo, shopping and reading. She enjoyed raising birds as well as watching and feeding the squirrels in her yard. A loyal Elvis fan; Darlene collected Elvis memorabilia and liked listening to his music. All of this however, paled in comparison to the joy she was brought by simply spending time with her family, especially her husband of fifty-five years.Darlene will be missed by her husband; sons: David (Mary Lou) Vigil and James (Elise) Vigil; daughters: Mary Toland and Cynthia (Jay) Loveday all of Gillette, Wyoming; brothers: Herbert Stickney of Nekoosa, Wisconsin and Leslie Stickney of Blair, Oklahoma and one sister, Betty Siegman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings: Robert Stickney, Howard Stickney, Margaret Davis, Delorse Rowe, and Margie List.Memorials in Darlene's name are suggested to benefit Hospice of Campbell County Memorial Hospital.
