Services for Mary Alice May will be held at a later date in Gillette, Wyoming with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.Mary May, age 73, of Monticello, Florida formerly of Gillette, Wyoming died on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at Brynwood Center Nursing Home of natural causes.Mrs. May was born on December 31, 1933 the daughter of Lawrence and Wilma (Verstegan) Umland in Longview, Washington. She married Johnny Joseph May on July 19, 1971. Mary was employed by the Gillette College until the time of her illness which began in April. She was a Hertz shuttle car driver before that. In her early years people in the Gillette area remember her and her husband?s business Captain Clean. She loved horses and cats especially her cat, Boots Figaro. Mary cared deeply about the wild horses that still roam freely in Wyoming. A member of the Jehovah Wirnesses.Mary is survived by her daughter, Janis (Weber) Simpson of Thomasville, Georgia; grandchildren: Gene Allen (Stephanie) Thatcher of Murray, Utah, Judson Lee Simpson of Thomasville, Georgia, and Amanda Genell (Simpson) Bernabe of Thomasville, Georgia; great grandchildren: Brittany and Sydnee Thatcher, and Amanda (Josh) Bernabe; great great grandchild, Zoey; sister, Barbara Ford of Montevallo, Alabama; brother, James F. Umland of New York City, New York; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.In lieu of flowers donations are suggest to benefit the ASPCA.
