Memorial services for Cynthia Lubnau will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Sonja Brucklacher officiating. Cynthia Lubnau, age 73, passed away at her home on Saturday, June 30, 2007 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mrs. Lubnau was born on February 21, 1934 the daughter of Robert and L?Vere (Wright) Kirkland in San Mateo, California. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area where she graduated from Burlingame High School in 1951. Cynthia received her AA degree from College of San Mateo in 1953 and attended San Jose State University majoring in business administration. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. Cynthia married Thomas E. Lubnau on September 2, 1956. They moved to Laramie, Wyoming, where she was the secretary to the dean of women at the University of Wyoming. The family moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1960 when her husband began his law practice with John Ilsley. She worked with her husband in his law practice until his death in 1990. Also of great love and comfort were her two dogs, Poof and Lucy. Cynthia enjoyed playing bridge, was a life time member of the Episcopal Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughter of the King, and various clubs.Cynthia is survived by her three children: Thomas E.(Rita) Lubnau II, Kathryn L. Lubnau both of Gillette, Wyoming, and Robert D. (Berdy) Lubnau of Aliso Viejo, California; 1 beloved grandson, Thomas Lubnau III; 2 step-grandchildren, Rachel Boam and Esequiel Nathan Lopez; brothers and sisters: Dr. Douglas Kirkland of Dallas, Texas, Marilyn Whitsel of St. Helena, California, David Robertson of Kelseyville, California and Barbara Green of St. Helena, California.In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Kate Weis Trust for the benefit of the Campbell County Memorial Hospital or the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
