Funeral service for Jane Katheryn Coulter, age 85, of Gillette, Wyoming will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2007 at the Mount Pisgah Cemetery Shelter in Gillette, Wyoming with Pastor Donovan Voigt of the Presbyterian Church of Moorcroft, Wyoming officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2007 at the Walker Funeral Home Chapel, 410 Medical Arts Court, Gillette, Wyoming.Jane Katheryn Coulter died Thursday, June 14, 2007 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes. Jane Katheryn Coulter was born July 23, 1921 in Marmarth, North Dakota to James Lund Lawson and Pearl Lavina Liming Lawson. The family moved to Milwaukee, Wis. and then to Lodge Grass, Montana where Jane attended school. In 1937 Jane met and married James R. ?Kirk? Coulter at Hardin, Montana. Born to this union were three sons; Milton L., Darrell R. and Alton R. All were born in Hardin, Montana, where the Coulters lived for the first twelve years of their marriage.The Coulters moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1948 where they raised their family. Jane was active in many community and state activities, including working in the Presbyterian Church, being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts, State Democratic Committeewoman from Campbell County, and served on the Wyoming State Youth Council Board, appointed by Governor Joe Hickey. In 1962 Jane was nominated ?Mother of the Year? for the State of Wyoming. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary holding local and state offices, she also served on the Staff of the American Legion Girls State Committee, was a member of Rebekah Lodge 28, VFW, Daughters of the Nile and a 47 year member of Gentian Chapter 23 order of the Eastern Star. Jane was DeMolay Mother for three terms, serving for each one of her three sons when they were each Master Councillor.Jane is especially remembered by all her sons and their contemporaries in their school years in the 50?s and early 60?s as a warm, supportive and helpful friend-she spent her life being interested in everyone she knew. The Coulter home was always open and Jane could be counted on for sound advice, a hot meal, or to chaperone or drive a car to any out of town sports activities, then be the #1 cheerleader in the stands!The Coulters moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming, in1975 where Jane?s husband Kirk was employed in State Government. In 1979 they moved back to Gillette and ultimately to their summer home in Pine Haven, Wyoming. Their winter months were spent at their home in Tucson, Arizona where Jane enjoyed playing Bridge and socializing with friends and visitors. Jane moved back to live fulltime in Gillette in 2001, two years after Kirk?s death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirk, and son, Darrell.She is survived by her sons; Milton ( Cathrine) Coulter and Alton (Pinky) Coulter, of Gillette; daughter-in-law Pamela (Maycock) Coulter of Phoenix, AZ; siblings Jimmy Lawson, of England, Arkansas; Dorothy Hardy of Gillette, Wyoming; Gayle Albright of Roundup, Montana. Grandchildren; Kristen Marie, Kent Russell, Kirk Milton, Shannon Jane, Sage, Alton Ray, Jr., Ashley R, Ty Harned, Dillon Rand, Zara Rose, Wyatt Rees ?Sam?; great grandchildren; Brandon, Michael, Blake, Lauren, Jordin, Rylie, Taylor, Jared, Bryce, Zachary, Katalene, and Josephine. A memorial has been established in Jane?s name to benefit the YES House.
