Means was born September. 26, 1931 in Gillette to Montie Cell and Mildred (Sanburn) Means. He was the 5th of 8 children. He lived with his family at their ranch northwest of Gillette and worked from the time he was very young for neighboring ranchers. He also worked breaking horses and selling them.In 1950 he married Kathleen Houston, a local school teacher from Buffalo, WY. They had four sons. Glen worked many various jobs which included the Boxco ammunition factory, construction, ranching, and oil field. In 1970 Glen formed KG Construction. He ran KG until 1990. In the 1980?s he also opened the Steer Restaurant and Good Times Liquor.Glen always had an interest in raising and running horses. He was an advocate of the horse racing business and one of the original founders of the race track in Gillette. Glen owned the west-coast champion quarter horse, Jet-n-Rocket. He recently was still following his dream of raising prize runners. In 1990 Glen bought the Old 28 ranch south of Buffalo, WY. He ran this ranch until 1997. He then bought land north of Buffalo on Rock Creek where he ran his horses and developed property. Other recent business ventures included starting Gem Drilling, Gem Air and CB, inc. On March 30, 2006 Glen married Gail Gleason of Gillette. They spent their winters in Mesquite, NV. This past year Glen and his son Craig bought the ranch of his dreams. He rode on this ranch as a young boy and his grandparents and Uncle Warrie had homesteaded on part of it. Survivors include his wife Gail of Gillette; brothers: Jerry and Bob Means of Recluse; Sister, Joan Dinsmore of Stavenaw OK; four sons: Jerry, Jim, Montie, & Craig, all of Gillette, seventeen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: John, Ward & Dale; sister, Ella and wife Kathleen.Glen was born a hundred years too late, because in reality he was an ?old-time? cowboy. If he had a horse that refused to buck with him the horse was no good, not enough spirit!Memorials are suggested to benefit the Hospice of CCMH. Memorials and condolences can be sent c/o Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
