Michael Sumner

September 1, 1941 — April 20, 2007

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2007 at New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church. Michael Ray ?Mick? Sumner, a loving husband, father and friend left us unexpectedly April 20, 2007. Mick enjoyed his work, family and friends, and was rarely without a smile and a wave. Mick was always glad to see you, even if he just saw you yesterday. He made being friendly an art form. He was born September 1, 1941 in Mt. Vernon, IL, the son of Ray and Wilda Mae (Green) Sumner. He married the love of his life, Sandra Neavill on September 21, 1962 in Grand Junction Colorado. He owned RAMS Services and later, Great West Specialty/Southwest Oilfield Products Company in Gillette and Casper, WY through boom, bust and then boom again. Although he stayed busy running his business, Mick always preferred play to work, and he was serious about enjoying himself. He spent a lot of time cooking for the people he loved, and making a huge mess in the process. He was a long time member of the Masonic Lodge, Powder River Shrine Club and Royal Order of the Jesters. He enjoyed going hunting with his buddies (although he cooked and lied more than hunted); camping with his family in the Big Horns, and ?heading ?er east? to Deadwood with Sandy on the occasional Saturday night. Surviving family members include his wife, Sandy; mother Mae Sumner of Mt. Vernon, IL; his children, Stephanie Feddersen and husband Kevin; their children Kaila, Mick and Maddie; and Stacie McDonald and husband Chris; and their children Grace and Finn. He is also survived by his brother Robert F. Sumner and wife Linda of Evansville, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded is death by his father Ray, son Jason and granddaughter Amanda. Mick was well loved by everyone he met, from the girls at the answering service to the clerks at the convenience store to his customers, family, friends and neighbors. Mick will be truly missed by everyone he knew.
