Memorial service for Ed Stuber, of Gillette will be held 1:00 P.M.,Wednesday, April 18, 2007 at the New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastors Wes Smith and Orvil Holden officiating and military honors provided by the American Legion Post # 42. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday April 21, 2007 in the Greenwood County Cemetery in Eureka, Kansas. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home of Gillette has been entrusted with the arrangements.Edward Aaron Stuber, beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather fought hard but lost his courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, April 12, 2007 at the age of 71. Ed was born in Climax, Kansas the son of Mike and Alice (Moore) Stuber. He was raised in Climax, until his junior year in high school when in that year his parents and 11 brothers and sisters, transferred to Eureka, Kansas. Ed graduated from Eureka High School in 1954. He attended college a short time before he joined the military, operating tanks for the Army. He was given an honorable discharge and it was then that he began his life long career working in the oilfield, as a roughneck in southeastern Kansas. He was then employed by Halliburton Services in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Ed married Joan Wikinson in 1958 and had three children. While working for Halliburton Ed transferred to Newcastle, Wyoming. In 1965 the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming. On April 2, 1976 Ed married Madelyn Jones. In 1977 he purchased Sun Cementing, which he owned and operated with his son Eddie until his death. He was also involved in numerous other business ventures in the Gillette area. Ed was dedicated to spending time with his wife Madelyn, and his children and grandchildren at their home in Pine Haven. He was a very respectable, hardworking and determined business man. His contribution to the community, its citizens and the lives he touched is so appreciated and will be remembered for a long time to come. His strength, loyalty, and kindness will serve as an inspiration to all who knew him. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers: Bill, Fred, Terry and Bob. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 31 years, Madelyn of Gillette; son, Edward Jr. and his wife Donna all of Gillette, Wyoming; 2 daughters: Kathy Fehlmann and her husband Ralph of Livingston, Montana and Jolita Stuber-Schleining and her husband Jeff Schleining of Billings, Montana; stepson, Gary Rhodd of Gillette; grandchildren: Jessica, Stephanie and Alan Stuber, Brandon and Bridger Rosendahl, Brad and Tiffani Fehlmann, Katelyn Stuber and Kelly Schleining, Christopher, Matthew and Faith Ann Rhodd;1 great-grandson, Myles Fehlmann; 3 brothers: Virgil Stuber Jr., Jack Stuber both of Eureka, Kansas and Roger Stuber of Concordia, Kansas; 4 sisters: Barb Butler, Sherry Williams, Peggy Hawthorne all of Eureka and Julie Clopton of Olathe, Kansas; 17 nieces and 8 nephews. A memorial has been established in Ed?s name at the Heptner Oncology Center. Deepest gratitude goes out to this organization for their efforts, support, care and research.
