Funeral services for Lynn Rankin will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, April 16, 2007 at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor Sonja Brucklacher officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.Mrs. Rankin, age 50, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City, South Dakota due to complications of surgery.Lynn was born on May 26, 1956 in Streator, Illinois the daughter of George and JoAnn (Eccelston) Harding. Being raised and educated in the small community of Streator, Lynn had many fond memories of school functions and other social events. Yearly vacations with her parents and siblings to Indiana Beach were always looked forward to and instilled such importance of family to Lynn. This tradition was carried on with Earl and their kids. Upon finishing her education, Lynn worked in Streator at Thatcher?s Glass Manufacturing Company. On June 30, 1978 she married Earl Rankin in Ottawa, Illinois, the couple made their home in Streator. In September of 1979 the family moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where she worked at Decker?s, Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Gillette Optometric Clinic, Campbell County Parks and Recreation as a youth program assistant, but most people will remember her for her work at the Council of Community Services, where she was currently employed. Lynn?s family came first and foremost. She supported her children in all of the athletic and academic endeavors they participated in. She would work with each one of them encouraging them to do their very best. With her love for the kids? sports hence was Lynn?s love for the Gillette Camels: basketball, football, soccer and track teams, she continued to follow them even after the graduations of her kids. Lynn and Earl enjoyed traveling together going on at least one ?big? vacation a year. Lynn was a NASCAR fan, her favorite driver being Jeff Gordon, #24. Watching NASCAR on TV as well as attending the races when the opportunity was there. She was a great cook and enjoyed collecting recipes and cookbooks. She enjoyed reading romance novels, and collecting Vera Bradley purses. Lynn especially enjoyed watching the Gillette 4th of July Fireworks with her family each year. Lynn?s love for her grandkids was evident and she really liked to attend all of their activities that she could. Lynn will be remembered not only for her kind and gentle spirit, but the sternness that she could demonstrate out of love.Lynn is survived by her husband, Earl Rankin of Gillette, Wyoming; sons: Kevin Skaggs and his wife Jen of Buffalo, Wyoming, Scott Skaggs and his wife Jamie, daughter, Jennifer Jackson and her husband Jake both of Gillette, Wyoming; step-daughter, Shannon Ratcliff and her husband Jason of Hinesville, Georgia ; grandchildren: Tavia and Skyler Skaggs, Tristan, Tatum and Sabin Skaggs all of Gillette Wyoming, and Keely Ratcliff of, Hinesville, Georgia; parents: George and Jo Ann Harding; grandmother, Evelyn Eccelston-Cota; all of Streator, Illinois; 2 brothers: Craig Harding of Streator, Illinois and Brian Harding of Casper, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her 2 grandfathers and her grandmother.In lieu of flowers memorials in Lynn?s name will be made to Lynn?s favorite charity.
