Funeral services for Maxine Martin will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 23, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Spencer officiating from the Treasured Memories Hospice. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home.Mrs. Martin, age 72, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Sunday, February 18, 2007 at her home in Gillette due to complications of cancer.Maxine Maye Martin was born on May 7, 1934 the daughter of Curtis and Ruth (Schroeder) Gilland in Madison, Nebraska. As a child she grew up on a farm in eastern South Dakota. Maxine married Donald Paul in February 1952 in Lake Andes, South Dakota, to this union they had 2 children and the couple later divorced. She lived with her children in Rapid City, South Dakota from 1962 until 1971. Maxine married Paul Martin Jr. in February 1972 and to this union 1 son was born; the family resided in Gillette, Wyoming. She worked for the Goings Hotel for 23 years as a desk clerk until it closed and she retired. Maxine loved to cook and bake for her family which was the most important job in her life. She was an avid crossword puzzle solver. Maxine is survived by her husband, Paul Martin Jr. of Gillette, Wyoming; her children: Jeanne (Brit) Johnson of Ocala, Florida, Curtis ?Corky? (Marissa) Paul of Gillette, Wyoming, Terry Olson of Gillette, Wyoming, Carla Wine of Ocala, Florida and Paul Martin III of Gillette, Wyoming; 2 sisters: Cheryl Stasio of Tampa, Florida and Norma Hess of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; 2 brothers: LaMonte Gilland of Gillette, Wyoming and Robert Gilland of Piedmont, South Dakota; 27 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, son Timothy Olson, and 3 sisters.Memorials may be made in Maxine?s name at the First National Bank in Gillette.
