Funeral service for Roberta Joan Douglas age 50, of Gillette will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 21, 2007 at the New Life Wesleyan Church with Pastor Wes Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Walker Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery. Roberta Joan Douglas, died of unknown causes at her Gillette, Wyoming residence on February 13, 2007. Roberta or ?Bert?, as she was known to her friends and family was born in Gillette, October 19, 1956. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1975 and went on to attend Casper College and became a Registered Nurse. This led to a dedicated career path which spanned three decades and often involved volunteering her nursing services for activities such as the National High School Rodeo Finals and 4-H Camp. She worked in the nursing field at the Carbon County Hospital in Rawlins, Wyoming, for Sharon?s Home Health of Moorcroft, Wyoming and has been employed with the Campbell County Memorial Hospital for 22 years. Berta?s most recent position with them was as a Clinical Supervisor at Pioneer Manor. She had a heart of gold, as any of her patients could attest to. Outside of caring for others, her hobbies and interests were spending time outdoors, either fishing or helping work the family ranch, where she enjoyed working cattle, running the hay swather or tractor. She enjoyed bingo and was an avid sports fan especially of the Wyoming Cowboys. Bert was a Campbell County High School wrestling booster and was well known as ?Andy?s Mom?.Roberta married the love of her life, Rick Douglas formerly of Queensland, Australia on July 7, 2000. Also left to cherish her memory are her son, Andrew Anderson of Gillette Wyoming; her parents, Robert and Joan Geer of Gillette, Wyoming; her brother David Geer and his wife Diana of Buffalo Wyoming; their son, Sean of Douglas Wyoming, their daughter, Danielle of Pinedale Wyoming; her brother Darel Geer and his wife Beryl and their son Lex of Savageton, Wyoming; her special sister Julie Norlin of Gillette, Wyoming, along with a host of numerous family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ted and Elsie Percifield and Perry and Marian Geer.Monetary donations may be made through the Walker Funeral Home to the Roberta J(Geer)Douglas Memorial Scholarship which is being established by the family for nursing students at the Gillette College.
