Edith was born on July 19, 1919 in Fairfield, Iowa the daughter of Otto and Anna (Leafgreen) Kunce. As a young child Edith moved to Winner, South Dakota. It was in South Dakota that Edith was raised and educated. On February 20, 1938, Edith married Charlie Ballieu in Chadron, Nebraska. The couple made their home in California; here they started their family and lived until the mid 1940?s. The family then moved to northeastern Wyoming; Hulett and then in 1949 to Upton where Edith resided until her health would not allow her to live alone. In the years previous to her children attending school, Edith dedicated her time to them. Caring for them and her husband was her primary focus. When her youngest child started school, Edith began a nearly forty year career waitressing. Edith was a people person, and that made working in the restaurant industry so enjoyable for her. Those who knew her, knew not to give her much gruff because she definitely can be described by many as being a fire cracker. Her personality was something to be admired and will not be forgotten as she instilled that trait in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Penny Spidle and her husband John of Gillette; 2 sons: Kenneth Ballieu and his wife Jimmie of Dayton, Texas and Gordon Ballieu and his wife Lynda of Newcastle, Wyoming; sister, Betty Hauber of Sturgis, South Dakota; and brothers, Donald Kunce of Portland, Oregon and Bob Kunce of Osage, WY; 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Charlie in 1979; son, Vince in 1965, grandson, Richard; 4 brothers and 5 sisters.Memorials and condolences in Edith?s name can be sent c/o Stevenson ? Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St. Gillette, WY 82716 or via the internet at www.stevensonwilson.com.
