Funeral Service for Janet Swanson will be at 2:30 P.M., Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints, in Gillette, Wyoming, with President James Comer presiding. Interment will follow at the Gillette Mount Pisgah Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6-9 P.M., Wednesday, February 14, at Walker Funeral Home, 410 Medical Arts Court. Janet Bagley Swanson, age 51, of Gillette, Wyoming died Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital following a long battle with autoimmune disease and a short battle with cancer. Janet Bagley was born to Joseph Wendell Bagley and Chloe Hansen on April 18, 1955 in Driggs, Idaho. Janet spent her childhood on the family dairy and potato farm near Victor, Idaho. She attended schools in Teton Valley, graduating from high school in 1973. Janet received her Associates Degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. A Bachelors Degree in elementary education followed in 1978 from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. During these years of college Janet worked in the resorts of Jackson Hole and West Yellowstone. A highlight during this time was cooking for a wagon train operating in the Grassy Lake area north of Teton Park. Following college Janet taught first grade for three years in Acequia, Idaho.Recovering from major surgery Janet spent a year back on the family farm milking cows and feeding on the sleigh with her father. During this time Janet met her future husband Ronald W. Swanson, a Gillette, Wyoming native who was working on a ranch in Jackson Hole. They were married a year later in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on September 24, 1983. The honeymoon winter was spent in the deep snow on a ranch nestled along the Snake River north of Jackson, Wyoming. The couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming in 1984 to live on the Swanson Ranch. The remainder of her life was spent being wife and fulltime Mother to her six children. Janet loved children and taught in the church primary for many years. Janet?s hobbies included crocheting, quilting and family history. Many a pair of jeans from the Community Closet ended up in her Levi quilts.Janet is survived by her father, Wendell Bagley of Victor, Idaho, her husband Ron Swanson and children Eliza, Amos, Heather, Peter, Jacob and Emily all of Gillette. Eliza and Amos are serving fulltime missions for the church in Hattisburg, Mississippi and San Bernadino, CA respectively. Surviving brothers and sisters include JoDeane Strong-Ricks of Driggs, Idaho, Adele Johnson of Hazelton, Idaho, Gaylen Bagley of Victor, Idaho, Christa Child of Rupert, Idaho, Christie Nethercott of Afton, Wyoming and Bruce Bagley of Victor, Idaho.Janet was preceded in death by her mother Chloe Hansen Bagley in 2002.
