Funeral services for Robert "Lee" Thomas, 62, of Gillette will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Family Life Church with the Rev. Bill Morel officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas died Thursday December. 14, 2006 of Lou Gehrig's disease at his home north of Gillette. He was born Feb. 14, 1944 in Gillette to Raymond R. and Gertie B. (Mills) Thomas. He lived in the Gillette area until March 1964, when he entered the United States Navy. He served aboard the USS Princeton and the USS Iwo Jima until he was honorably discharged in March 1968. He was deployed to Vietnam three times during his tour of duty. Mr. Thomas married Sherry O?Hair on April 16, 1966 in Gillette. During their 40 years of marriage, they had a daughter, Christal, and twin sons, Gary and Terry. His greatest joy in life was taking care of and loving his family. He loved to go camping and fishing in the mountains with his family. From June 1991 to November 1996, Mr. Thomas worked at Black Thunder Mine as a millwright where he was known to many as ?General.? At the time of his retirement, he was employed by DRM. He was a welder by trade and loved his work. Mr. Thomas is survived by his wife, Sherry Thomas of Gillette; daughter, Christal Price of Gillette; sons, Gary Thomas of Gillette and Terry Thomas of Wright; his brother and sister; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
